Maurice E. Mobley, age 90, of Evansville, IN, passed away at 8:35 a.m. on Tuesday, January 01, 2019, at Linda E. White Hospice House.

Maurice was born April 17, 1928, on a farm near the small settlement of Iron, east of Norris City, Illinois to Earl E. and Disa E. (Austin) Mobley. He graduated from Enfield Community High School and taught school in the White County, IL school system after attending college at Southern Illinois University – Carbondale.

Maurice retired in 1990 from Mid-West Federal Savings Bank after 37 years, the last 14 of which he served on the board of directors and as President. He later served as President and Chairman of the Evansville Division of First Indiana Bank of Indianapolis. He served as a member of the board of directors of the Indiana League of Savings Institutions and later as Chairman of that organization.  He also was elected to two terms on the board of directors of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis.

Maurice was a member of the Evansville Rotary Club for over 50 years.  He was also a member of the Kennel Club, Evansville Country Club, Jaycee Old Timers, Evansville Masonic Lodge #64 and a life member of the White County (IL) Historical Society.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion.  Mr. Mobley was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and a former member of Central United Methodist Church.

Maurice is survived by his wife, Suzanne Johnson Mobley; daughter, Sandra Kay Ford (Brad) of Lafayette, IN; son, Michael Earl Mobley (Debbie) of Dahlonega, GA; grandchildren, Dustin Michael Ford (Tara) of Somerset, MA and Sara Elizabeth Ford of New York, NY.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 55 years, Velma Ruth Mobley in 2005; sister, Mildred Merritt; and brother, Harold Mobley.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue with Father Steve Litzenich officiating. Burial will be in Centerville Cemetery in Centerville, IL.

Friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 5, 2019 at BOONE FUNERAL HOME EAST CHAPEL.
